约斯特首部长片就有如此高的素材整合度和编排度，雀食是美国独立电影界的一个paragon罢，对于这种题材的电影来说这部真的是同类最佳之一，气质有点像Kramer，又有点像Ophüls

一部有着粗粝感和极强自反性的电影，但整部电影却能够很好地被整合起来。不得不说，约斯特就是一个天才。 作为约斯特的首部长片，可以看到不少他以后的技法已经成形(对空镜头、重叠音轨、定格动画、静照这些实验手法的运用)。本片嘲讽了美国ZF，谈论人际和两性关系，将近尾声时更是说到了电影创作(这段真能让人受到激励)。最后音乐响起及与镜头的结合十分抒情，约斯特当时也似乎对将来有着些许期待。
